I'm starting to leave an unhealthy relationship. I'm starting to leave behind a habit that no longer serves me. I'm starting to leave behind parts of my identity that no longer reflect who I want to become.
But leaving isn't just about what I'm walking away from. It's also about who I'm becoming.
So, how do I begin to see myself?
As a woman who is leaving, what choices do I make? What do I allow into my life, and what am I no longer willing to carry?
More importantly, who is the woman I'm becoming?
What does her life look like? How does she spend her time? How does she treat herself and others? How does she respond when things don't go as planned? What does she prioritize? How does she spend her money? What do the people around her see in her?
These questions help me shift my attention from what I'm leaving behind to the life I'm creating.
I don't have to wait until everything has changed to begin becoming that woman. I can start making choices today that reflect the person I want to be.
I can practice new habits. Set different boundaries. Spend my time more intentionally. Respond differently. Make decisions that support the life I want to create.
Every choice is an opportunity to move closer to that identity.
Leaving is one part of the process. Becoming is the other.
I'm starting to leave.
And I am becoming that woman.
