Assignments/ Grades
Q: Do I have to attend the Office Hours and/ or Learning Labs on Teams?
A: No, it is not required. However, attendance is taken at the meetings to identify students using the resources available. It is strongly recommended to utilize the meetings to support your learning. Use of supports is taken into consideration when determining the level of student engagement with the teacher and new content per the most recent OSPI guidelines (refer to the ISD e-news "High School Grading Options.") Please read the "norms" (expectations) for attendance in Office Hours/Learning Lab.
Q: How are quizzes/ assessments given?
A: There will be a tab on Teams in the respective unit to a Forms page and through Classlink-McGraw-Hill. Quizzes/Assessments will start at the designated time and end at the designated times. Quizzes/ assessments will not be scored for students who work beyond the required time (quiz/assessment remain available for those students with testing accommodations only) and will need to reschedule a re-take. Students are allowed to use student-generated notes and textbook during the quiz only. All students are expected to follow the academic honesty policies as outlined in the SHS Student Handbook. (refer to page 47 in the Skyline High School Student Handbook 2019-2020)
Q: How will the VOC points work online?
A: The VOC point category will stay at 15 points total. Students have yet to earn 15 points can do so through their contributions during discussions during Office Hours and Learning Lab. VOC points were offered with the optional enrichment assignments prior to April 20th and are no longer accepted. However, check for bonus activities on Teams. They are announced through the Posts on Teams. Make sure you are receiving notifications for Teams Posts.
Q: Can I retake the Unit 4 test?
A: Update (Grading Policy updates TBA, stay tuned.) However, Nomenclatures quizzes are available for re-takes. See One Note Calendar and announcements (April 7 - 9, 2020).
Q: Do we have to upload our completed assignments on Teams as well or do we just upload them onto our One Note in order to get our voice points?
A: All assignments are already saved and ready for review on One Note (if you are working online through www.office.com. Please click "Turn In" through Teams to confirm that your work is ready for review. Attachments via email are NOT accepted. Please communicate with the teacher if there are extenuating circumstances.
Q: Is the PPE in the Time of COVID STEM project due since it was assigned during the "review period" but is due May 4th?
A: No, it is currently NOT a graded assignment. However, depending on the direction given by the district, this project or one similar to it may be used as an assessment in lieu of traditional exams. Thus, I recommend you review the project and bring clarifying questions to Office Hours.
Q: Is there extra credit?
A: No. Grading continues starting this week (April 20, 2020). Please do your best to complete the assignments and take quizzes with integrity so that you identify your actual level of mastery and are able to ask clarifying questions.
